After pressing enter on shut down don't you get a dialogue asking you whether
you want to turn off, hybenate, stand by etc?

When I try to shut down my computer I go to start menu and enter on shut
down. Nothing happens. I can then carry on using the PC as normal, but can't
shut down unless I press the button on the computer. Any ideas why this keeps
happening?
