Hello Catherine, If Explorer works on other drives OK and if it's not a particular floppy disk which is faulty, unfortunately, it looks like it may be the actual floppy drive itself which has become faulty. I've had to change two floppy drives in one of my PCs in the last two years because of this. Try blowing or sucking any dust out of it with your vacuum cleaner before giving up on the drive and replacing it and perhaps a local engineer could check it out for you and make a diagnosis. Whenever I insert a disk and go to explore it in My Computer I get the message saying "Please insert a disk in drive a" as if I haven't inserted a disk, and the drive keeps making noises as if it's trying to read the disk but not being able to. I pushed the disk in firmly just as usual. Has anyone got any ideas what could have gone wrong? How can I go about trying to figure out what the problem is? I know nothing about how floppy drives work and am next to useless in understanding hardware in general so any idiot's guide type answers would be ok. At the same time I learn quickly, am good at tinkering am short of money so if I can sort out the problem myself that would be far preferable than having to send my precious baby away somewhere!
