Initially she had an error code, something about offline. Then it came up with signing into Windows Live Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. It does however attempt to sign in for about a minute before displaying the error.

I agree, odd, and that's why it probably is something to do with the
Virgin setup. Is there any error message or simply a Page Not Found
message?

Ok Carol, many thanks. But why does it work on her home
connection but not her flat one? Odd isn't it?

Virgin Media seem to block some sites which I can't
readily recall but I have had that nuisance from time to

If it's not a question of ports with Virgin Media, I'd
look at her Windows Firewall to ensure nothing has got
changed with the installation of the Virgin stuff, in
case it's blocked from there ... but probably not a lot
of help.
Let us know when it's solved and how, please?

Replying to my own message. At her flat she is using a
D-Link wireless router whilst at home she is using a
Belkin one.

Hello all,
Hannah had her network installed today. She is with
Virgin cable. Everything seems to work except Windows
live. Now when she is at home, using the same provider,
it works fine. As she's only gone live today, is it
posssible that they've not activated all the ports,
except for internet and e-mail? Please reply soon as she is
thinking of
contacting them if the issue hasn't been resolved by
the time she's moved in properly, which is this Thursday.
Thank you very much. Take care.
From Chris.
