I wholly agree, that is why I gave up with the audio watches when they'd died, I went across to a tactile but found that although I paid £50 for it, for that price I wasn't getting the same level of durability from it that I would have got for a £50 watch on the high street that I couldn't see. So I've given up with wearing a watch and manage with my phone alone.
OK, that is hardly discreet, but no one else can understand what it says at the top speed so that does for me.

Hi Colin, I may consider buying an audio watch from a high street store, but I find it useful to have the tactile element as well and there's only one place to buy a talking tactile watch. e.g. when I'm in a noisy environment I can't hear the watch and that arm is paralysed so tricky to get my ear closer; also times when you don't want everyone in the room to have it shoved in their faces that you're checking the time. On the other hand there are times when the audio is useful e.g. when I have dirty hands or gloves on etc...ah well, if I decide the hassle isn't worth it I may look for a mainstream supplier of a talking watch. Or perhaps a tactile and talking watch in one unit is just too tricky and I should wear two!
