George, thanks so much for taking the time to help. But actually I'm aware of that page; it's the one I used to configure my printer about a month ago in the first plaice! The printer then worked fine up to four days ago when it decided to start printing out gibberish! :@. I'm not even sure that reconfiguring my computer to use the Vigor's printer port would solve the problem. Worth a shot though as there don't seem to be that many options left to try... Thanks again for your help! You reckon that what is causing the problem then? Would that leave me with one option i.e. getting a printer with an Ethernet port? Thanks. The USB port is notoriously unreliable, and may require re-installing. Sad to say, I have up on mine in the end. Any text I print comes out as series of apostrophes, question marks, stars and all sorts of simples and characters. I don't have any language packs installed on my computer. My HP printer is linked to my home network through a Vigor router, and I'm getting the same print out results using either of my laptops which are running on XP SP2. I've no idea what's causing this nor where I can go and look for clues. The only thing I've tried so far was restarting all the devices and needless to say that it didn't work. And ah, the printer was working ok up to a week ago. Any help please? Even an idea on where to start from would be grate! Thanks for any thoughts I may receive! AmroB
