Hi dean. I hav  the Nokia E63. This phone is not listed to work with Talks yet. 
Talks works well with this phone. There are a couple of issues with reading the 
time and synbols

What model do you have?  When I type, Talks reads what it thinks the 
word should be from the letters I have typed so far until a word is 
made.  Pressing star on the botton left to the left of zero changes 
the sugestion.  If you have a problem where for some reason Talks 
isn't reading the sugested word which it sounds like you are, you 
could try pressing Talks followed by right arrow to read the word and 
with a bit of luck it will be a quicker work around than going 
through your message every time.
