I've just tried it again George with a friends address and it came up
straight away. I now have 10 more post codes I can find today.
I also used the link in your email, very odd.

Tom.

Well either my PC is bugged, or many of you have not had to
look up a Post Code for a while. Or perhaps I should be
looking at something other than the "Find a post code" link
at http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm

Yes indeed, you do begin by typing in an address for which
you wish a Post Code, but after that it goes pear shaped.
When you tell it to go find it, up comes the following:

"To continue using the Postcode Finder, simply type [image
displayed] in here:"

Of course you can't see the image. However, what a sighted
person can't see either is the following, which is hidden,
and doesn't seem to be spoken.

"If you cannot see this image, please call our helpline on
08456 060 406."

I only found it when I copied the section into an HTML
message, and then changed the format of the message to plain
text.

And of course there's a link explaining why they have done
this, which says:-

"Typing in a code helps our system recognise you as an
individual user. This simple action stops the Postcode
Address Finder being exploited by automated systems."

Yeah - right!

George.

Yes, Peter, I read it but I'd actually done the same think,
only I said it wrongly on the list. So what's new?

Best wishes,

Joan.

So that means I can't do anything about it
George? Should I contact them? But how did Tom get his?

Best wishes,

Joan.

It's one of those damned graphics
showing characters you need to type.

Hi, Folks,

I used to use the Royal Mail
postcodes finder with not a bit of trouble at

https://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/postcodefinder?pageId=po
l_login&catId=400145&_requestid=192459&cs=1

Now every one I enter comes back
with a dialogue something like:

"To continue type" and then I don't
know what comes next. I never do get the code I need now.

I even tried entering my own
postcode with the same result.

Any help would be appreciated.

Best wishes,

Joan.
