Thank you for that, David. It sounds as if the makers of the Pocket are getting there gradually but there are still some improvements which need to be made. I will probably wait a bit longer before deciding whether to invest or not, but I agree with you that the Pocket certainly has some useful features, in particular the feedback on recording levels which it provides.

Hi Caroline, I have certainly not noticed any difference, but have only briefly used itsince doing the upgrade. I have not noticed it being particularly sluggish, or if it is it does not really bother me. In my view the sound quality when listening to usic files is far better than say the Victor Stream, but it is annoying that you can't scroll through album names and artists. You can getalbum information if you press the info key, but even then you do not get the name of the artist. But the most annoying thing about the Pocket atpresent is the large pauses it inserts when it finds punctuation during thereading of text files. this used to happen with the Stream, but that has been greatly improved. It has some very good points though but a few small changes would make a good machine excellent. The main irritations seemed to be the sluggishness when moving around in a Daisy book and the failure of the unit to speak the titles of audio files when moving through the menu structure.Does this new firmware version address either of these issues? I don't have a Pocket, and although I was thinking I might get one at some point, I don'tthink I would until these two drawbacks are sorted out. Thanks, Caroline. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Russell" <david.russell8@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, March 14, 2009 6:27 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Plextalk Pocket firmware upgradeMandy, In case you are unsure, you download the file onto your pc. It is an executable file, i.e. it ends with .exe so you find the file and press enter on it. run the file, and you will find one file. Copy this file to your sd card and put it in the Pocket. Connect the power cable and turn on the pocket. It will say that it has found the file and you wait a minute or two until it starts behaving as normal again. Then you are ready to rock.
