Hi Yusuf, if the fuse was in the power supply it wouldn't work at all.
                   John.

I wondered that, but maybe its able to give enough for the machine to run, but not enough to charge the battery?

Do you think the problem lies with the battery rather than the charger?

If the power supply was damaged, would the player play when the battery was discharged?

Hi Jon, I've had mine since 2004 and haven't had to change the battery once.

A week ago, the power went off in my flat and one of the fuses in the fuse box had tripped. The oven stopped heating up as a result and I'm wondering
if at the same time the power supply for the Plextalk wasn't damaged as
well.

Hi Yusuf, you don't say how long you've had your ptr1, but suffice it to say that ptr1 batteries are rubbish, and are also the worst for memory effect of any battery I've ever encountered. I bought my ptr1 in 2005, and within six months the battery wouldn't hold a charge. I just use it on the mains now. I'm not wasting money on another battery. As for your mention of a fuse blowing I haven't got a clue what that could have been.
If you decide to replace the battery they're about 35 quid.
                   John.

Hi all, I discovered yesterday that my PTR1 has stopped charging.

Its plugged in at the moment but I'm told only has a battery level of 1. When its connected to the power supply it should say either charging or something like on AC power.

My guess is that the adapter has gone, a fuse blew last week and I'm guessing the adapter was blown then.

Does this sound reasonable, or is it more likely that the battery itself has gone. I'll have to ring the RNIB later to find out if they still cell power supplies or batteries for the PTR1.
Cheers
Yusuf
