I don't know if this contributes much to the conversation but I use a
little utility called 'copy path'.

When you've located a file or folder this handy utility has a 'copy
path' option reached by right clicking the on the file. In fact it
has several options but I always choose 'copy long path'. You can
then paste the whole path wherever you like.

A quicke Google will turn it up.

Hi,

If you do a context key or shift-f10 in the results list, there's an
option which says, "open existing folder"
