Hi Barbara, I would echo that - with the the exception of the minor points I made, it's excellent, good value for money and it does exactly what it says on the box - in this case, literally. Did you spot that the cardboard holder thingy in the box has tags on it that also give info? They are lined up with the penfriend when it's in the box next to the relevant buttons/controls on the same side of the box as the sample label. They are the same diameter as the sample lable and are circular but are slightly recessed. I bought some small bulldog clips with flat tabs on the fold down handle efforts and have put a label on each of these so that I can tag things in the freezer or fridge, aboxes of cereal, clothes etc. I have some of the RNIB magnetic tape and have put labels on short pieces of that for tins, jars etc, and I'll be putting labels on cut-out squares of plastic that can be blue tacked to plastic bottles such as mayo & salad cream. I reckon plastic clothes pegs will do for ties, and I'll put a label on some coat hangers for my shirts that are multi-coloured or patterned. Anyone got any other suggestions about how to use them without having to throw them away? And for all those who say we are always criticising poor old RNIB, I have to say I am very pleased with them and this product. Being able to download instructions is good and they are well worded. Less than 5 mins out of the box and I was up and going. I can see what others have said about the volume, but that is a minor thing and sorted with a few key presses. I don't understand the mode which lets you read pre-recorded RNIB info, but maybe that is something yet to be properly set up. I would have liked the ability to recharge the batteries by USB, but hey we can't have everything. A friend was joking to me the other day that we will all be so newly fangled that everything in the house which didn't move would be labelled for the first few days. We even joked us blindies could label each other so we know who's in the room. Interesting and might stop you talking about someone who is sat next to you! So I am pleased, well done RNIB. A product which performs a useful function, is easy to use and not at all costly.
