IbrahimYou mention a voice recorder facility. Can this be used for making short audio notes, or is it only to record label messages.

Pack B? Hi Carl. Indeed, it is an extremely simple device employing a simple concept. Why all this discussion about its operation and label packs I don't know *smile*, I often find myself repeating myself to people who just don't get the fact that this is nothing more than a simple, cost effective labelling device with a couple of nice extras IE the mp3 player and voice recorder. The only bar code scanning package with a food database that I know of isdeveloped by Freedom Scientific, costs over a thousand pounds and has to be used in conjunction with a PackMait note taker device, altogether a clumsierpackage not to mention hideously and for most prohibitively expensive. IfI'm being honest, this device is going to tick the boxes for most people onprice and utility. All the best, Ibrahim.----- Original Message ----- From: "Karl Proud" <karl@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, July 10, 2009 11:34 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Pen Friend Pack A? I need something to mark CD's and books and this is perfect. Pack B?Dunno about you but this whole A pack B pack thing seems a bit daft. Surely it could've been developed a little better? What happens, in practice, if you use the same barcode label twice? That would be useful to know. Also, why can't we just use the barcode that is on the product itself already? This would mean that every time I swipe a can of heinz baked beans, it would always say heinz baked beans because the barcode will always be the same. Or would this necessitate too much guesswork in working out where the barcode is? I ask because some of these barcode sensors are really very good and you don't have to be precise at where you point the wand. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Karl Proud Sent: 10 July 2009 08:38 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Pen Friend Pack A? Pack B? Isaac, I was thinking the same thing. I am guessing that the penfriend is pretty portable and can therefore be lost pretty easily - I lose every other thing! Backup is going 6to be important. really looking forward to getting a hold of one and playing with it though. Hi Karl This is my understanding too. Another point is that The device is very useful for many applications but I suspect using it for anything critical (meaning anything that it will take you too long to construct again) may be risky. As all messages are stored on the device, any memory corruption (which can happen with this type of devices) may mean that all messages are lost. So for example I would not mark my CDs unless the messages can be easily backed up and restored. Pack B? Hi, What I meant was that if you are concerned that you would go through the labels fast by using them for food: labels on tins and fridge/freezer items, and felt that you would run out of labels real fast there was a way of using more than one pack of label A packs. So, if I bought 5 packs of A labels, I could just go through them as long as I deleted the voice tag for each tin/freezer bag I used. I didn't mean reusing the labels. I think this is what Karl was explaining. Then, if you scan a new label and it comes up with a voice tag youknowit is still in use You just have to be sure you clear the label everytime you use the bag/tin etc Karl.----- Original Message ----- From: "David Russell" <david.russell8@xxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, July 09, 2009 5:17 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Pen Friend Pack A? Pack B? Barry, I believe you will get varying sizes of label in each pack. A and b refers to the coding by which the Penfriend recognises the label itself.forthat reason you cannot purchase two packs of pack A as they will be of nouseunless you have two penfriends. at present there is no pack b, but if there were, you could only buyoneof those for one Penfriend. In the future we may get pack c d e and 5 6and7, But I will have filled my freezer long before then.
