Hi Mike,

Don't have the kurzweil, so at the moment that isn't an option, but I'll
give the RTF format a try when converting in Adobe Acrobat Pro X and see
what that makes of the closely spaced text. Good luck with the conversion.
John.

Hi John and everyone who helped,

I have taken Richard up on his offer. For the PDF's which are closely
spaced, Kurzweil 1000 can convert it quickly to rich text and it is a good
job. K1000 also converts the images as well, but it is the size of this
file. At over 60 Meg, it is a brute to process. I am running a Quad core
3.8 Ghz, running Win 7, with 4 Gig of Ram, but it will not work with it at
all.

Many thanks again,

Happy New Year to all as well!!

Mike

Hi Mike,

OK Mike, hopefully Richard can convert for you if you wish to take him up on
his offer. I know what you mean about pdf files being too closely spaced and
JAWS reading it as one line - what a pain and takes hours to sort out.

Cheers.

John.

John,

I usually use Kurzweil to convert Pdf's. It will work on files up to about
3 Meg, but bigger files it will not handle.

It is good at converting, and even text files, which are too closely spaced,
where JFW reads the line as one word, it successfully converts into rich
text.

Scanning is an option, but at that size, I don't know how many pages long it
must be.

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike,

If the file has been scanned as an image, then I don't know of anything that
will actually convert it. JAWS 13 will read the first page of a scanned
image, but it cannot be saved and converted and you would need to scan each
page and read it - quite a labour intensive process. The only option I can
think of is to print the pages and scan in as an accessible document rather
than an image.

Cheers.

John.

Hello,

I have a Pdf file, a book, and it is as an image scan, or viewed as a blank
document by JFW.

I need to convert it, but Kurzweil will not handle a document of its size,
62000 Kb.

Any suggestions please?

Kindest,

Mike
