I am still thinking of doing this too but have not done so yet as I don't really see I have a big enough need. Why should I use my phone instead of my PC in my home, for example? Anyway, it's a good learning curve and I intend to do it in the coming weeks when things quieten down a little. Various of you has kindly given me information on how to do it so I should, eventually anyway, manage to get there!I would be interested though to hear from any one who cares to tell me just why this is such an enhancement.-- Carol carol.pearson29@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx -- Carol carol.pearson29@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx -- Carol carol.pearson29@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxOn Saturday, February 21, 2009 8:00 AM (UK time), Barbara Wilson at barkingbabs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx said:Agreed James, I use mine all the time both within my own home wireless network and out and about either in hotspots or using my contract WAP. It's just like using any other program, if you can use the up and down arrow then there's nothing to be afraid of. I don't really understand. I, and millions of others use the internet on our phones everyday. If you chose to try out the internet on your device, I'm sure you would find it, in time, an invaluable tool. Just my thoughts. They run fully fledged versions of Windows and can run JAWS, so are more powerful than the PDAs running Windows Mobile. They are probably of a similar size depending on model. While they are very small, you probably need an external keyboard to use them effectively. I think a netbook is a better solution. I never use the Internet on my N95 though because I have no confidence to do this even though my accouont gives me Internet Access. Eleanor, Palm is an operating system for PDA's devices (Personal Digital Assistant). As far as I know no assistive technology works with these devices. But don't despair! There're other PDA's run on Windows Mobile operating system. Mobile Speak screen reader works with these devices. So if you really want a PDA there're options that are available for us VIP's! I have a friend who has something called a Palm. I have seen it and it is bigger than a mobile phone and smaller than a Netbook. She tells me that its operating system is Windows but she is not very technical. Anyone got one and could I run even Jaws on it? guess I could not run Supernova on it but given that I am totally dependent on speech on my mobile I could cope with speech only on the Palm if that was possible.
