Hi listers, Crazy! So we now have a blanket definition for suitability. I have a wireless printer (Kodak) which is pretty accessible. I asked the Open University Needs Assessment for a wi-fi printer and the response I got was that this type of printer is not suitable for a blind person. I an therefore being recommended a Cannon printer which I have been told cost 49 pounds! I am expecting that when I first replace the blac and colour cartridge both will in total cost more than the printer. I had a Lexmark wi-fi printer which I found excellent until my guide dog knocked it off the low table I had it on. Since then the wi-fi does not work so I have had to go back to using a cable with it' interesting though that I cannot use my disabled Student Allowance for wi-fi printer because someone has decided that such a printer is not suitable for blind people. -original message- Subject: [access-uk] Re: PARALLEL TO USB CONVERTER? Can only say that I've not had good experience with the Lexmark we bought. It needed to be almost on top of the wireless router. Hi all, Well, My old desktop has, at least for the moment, given up working and I need to use my parallel printer. My laptop only has a USB option so, can I get a converter at a reasonable price? If so, any details would be most welcome. In addition, if I need to go for a new printer, as I have WiFi in the house, should I consider a WiFi or USB connection printer? It would be good to have details, please, of any models which you really like and are fully useable for a totally blind person. Thanks. -- Carol P would be good to ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
