Hi John,

Very interesting. But sadly I suspect you may have a
customised Outlook. I have Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2003,
and don't have the checkbox you mention.

George.

Hello George,

Well, it has worked.

I am subscribed to the Window-Eyes list from my work ID and
have got the out of office message switched on. An out of
office message from me has not appeared on that list, along
with the associated notes from people telling me how rude I
am for not unsubscribing first.

The steps I took were:

From <tools> call up the Out of Office assistant.

Select the button to say I am out of the office and make an
appropriate change to the text.

Press the button to add a rule.

Press the check box for e-mails from specific ids.

Enter gw-info@xxxxxxxxxxx in the edit box.

You then have to select an action.

I <move> the e-mails received to a new folder I have placed
on the personal folders on the exchange server, note, not on
my personal folders on the C drive.

That is it.

If this is something done by our IT guys or a standard
feature I don't know.

Hi John,

When you or your IT guys figure out how to set up a rule to
exclude responding to specific e-mail addresses, would you
please let me know how it's done.

Many thanks,

George.

Hi George,

At work we have recently changed to Outlook Exchange Server
2003.

I use Outlook 2003 on my work PC.

In the Out-of-office tool there is a button to add rules and
filters.

In fact from work I only subscribe to the Window-eyes list
and so have added that one.

I have, though, yet to try it out.

I'll let you know how it goes in a week's time when I will
be taking a day off.

Regards, John

I'm afraid it's simply not possible until such time as
e-mail software developers provide an option in their Out of
Office modules which allows users to add exceptions. I
would love to be able to use mine a lot more since there are
times when I do want my clients to know why I'm not able to
reply to them by return.

However, all I can do at present is keep requesting the
feature from Microsoft's Outlook and Exchange Server teams.

George.
