Hi. Life is about the havs and the have nots. If you can afford such a thing then fine if not quit sniping at the cost. It's not going to come down. I have saved up and paid for my Tech equipment and screen reader and this is the best way to pay for things that you need. I've never span that line which tells the world that I'm VI and have no money to pay for equipment. If you want something bad enough then I'm sure you will find a way to save up your cash to buy the desired item. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Nutt" <steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi,

So you're saying if some people can't afford it, no-one should have it?
Strange logic there.

All the best

Steve

well why bother developing the tech when no one except those in jobs can
afford it

Its a problem with most assistive tech but if we go at it like that
nothing will ever be developed. Worth remembering though that it does have an 18 cell Braille display and they aren't cheap and probably never will be.

In early July, GW Micro announced the new and exciting Braille Sense
OnHand. We are pleased to announce that the Braille Sense OnHand will be
shipping soon. Many of you have seen this portable notetaker at the summer
shows and have been dazzled by its compact size, power, and performance.

The Braille Sense OnHand is a small notetaker with an 18-cell Braille
display. It has the power of the Braille Sense notetakers, and comes with a
GPS receiver, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a compass all built into one small,
ergonomic unit. It also includes four GB of built-in memory, an SD card
slot, and USB OTG port. An external LCD display is an option.

Although we have no firm date on shipping, the preliminary estimate is
for shipping to start in September. So, GW Micro is now taking orders to
make sure that you will be among the first to experience all that the
Braille Sense OnHand can do for you.

The retail price is $4,995.
