Hi there,

Thanks very much for this. Also appreciate the list of shops which I'll
browse through tonight. I'm thinking even though I found screws here, I'll
buy a set of spares just to be sure.

Thanks again for your time.

Screws Query

Hi Hussein,

Not too sure what the NOM stands for, but the screws you are looking for are
metric M4 with a 0.7mm pitch. VESA screws are normally 10mm in length, but
you might be advised to push a small stick into the hole and mark it with a
fibre pen and measure the length before purchasing. I know places like
Homebase, B&Q etc stock M4 screws, so that might be your first port of call.

Good luck.

John.

Hi there David,

Thanks very much for this. I'll pass this onto a friend who's more
experienced at purchasing DIY kit and he should be able to locate them for
me. what does nom. Mean in the first set of brackets?

Thanks again for your time.

Screws Query

Hi Hussein,

Did a quick search and came up with the following:

The standard vesa mounting screws have the following spec:

M4 (nom. diameter & thread) x 10mm (length)

You should be able to pick these up from any hardware store.

HTH

Subject: [access-uk] Optelec ClearView Spectrum & Acer Monitor Mounting
Screws Query

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone with a better knowledge of DIY or mechanics could
possibly please help with this one. I have spoken at length to Optelec in
the UK, however although helpful, they were unable to assist me with the
specific query I have.

I have a Clearview Spectrum (also known as Flex) CCTV with an Acer 17 inch
TFT monitor which I purchased in 2004. I have recently moved the unit to a
new property. When packing the unit for transport, I disassembled the
monitor from the rest of the unit by removing the four mounting screws that
connect the square mounting plate to the back of the monitor. Unfortunately
it would seem that the screws were misplaced in transit, so I am now unable
to reattach the monitor to the unit.

As I said, I contacted Optelec here in the UK to see if they would be able
to supply me with replacement screws. Unfortunately, they said they were
unable to do so as the screws were standard VESA mounting screws that I
could obtain anywhere. Equally unfortunately, they did not have any
monitors available when I called so that they could tell me the
specification of the screws which I need so that I could purchase separately
from a local supplier.

I have looked online to see if I can purchase standard VESA mounting screws
but have had no luck. I was wondering if anyone could assist and provide
the specifications for the screws I need, or even if I can obtain a complete
set of replacement screws from Optelec directly.

I would be extremely grateful for any assistance you are able to offer.
Despite my knowledge of computers, I am completely unfamiliar when it comes
to electronics or mechanics and therefore have no clue where to start to
find appropriate screws myself. If it is of any help, the serial number for
the CCTV starts 04 11 815R xxxx (I can provide the final four digits if this
is needed).

I thank you sincerely in anticipation for any help you can offer and look
forward to hearing from you soon.

All the best for now and take care,
