I tried to purchase something from the online shop, gave up in disgust, phoned
helpline, and even they had to go onto a backup system to do it, as the a
system failed hard.  If it ain't broke?

Subject: [access-uk] Online shopping with RNIB

Hello John,
I had a similar problem, recently, with the RNIB's online shop.  I had to phone
the helpline to place my order and they had a problem processing the order,
too.  It turned out to be something to do with the space between the first and
second parts of the postcode.  Try deleting the space in yours and, hopefully,
this may fix the problem.
Cheers,
Jay
