Thanks Steve. So another question then ... where could you get one of these, apart, presumably, from RNIB who seem to sell it under a different number and probably for a heck of a lot more money knowing them.

Thanks.

Hi Jackie,

I am not David, but it is very difficult to set the clock if you can't see,
although if you install the software that comes with it, you can set the
clock from the PC, so to me, that isn't an issue any more.

All the best

Steve

Hi David

Another question then. What are the inaccessible bits from a non-visual
perspective please? Sorry if this has been covered before. But it's like
everything else. When you don't need to know it passes you by!! (smile.)

Many thanks.

Jackie

Hi:

The DS-50 is purely the model with more memory as reflected in the number
of
available hours of recording.
I have had mine for almost three months and wish I had bought in January
when it was released, and that it was available decades ago!!!
Some limitations from a V.I. point of view, but a fantastic piece of kit.

Cheaper from other sources.
I bought mine from purely gadgets who are on line.

David

Subject: [access-uk] Olympus DS50 question

Hi All

Could someone please clarify my confusion between the DS50 and any of the
Olympus units RNIB are selling? Is the DS50 the same as what they are
selling under different model numbers, or is it a different animal
altogether? I know that the three devices RNIB advertise only appear to
differ in the amount of hours you have for recording and, of course, the
price (smile). But I've heard mention of the Olympus DS50 on this list
quite often, and wonder if it is the same machine.

Many thanks everyone. Oh, and for the more observant among you, no! my
computer clock isn't wrong. It is a little after 4.30 am as I write this.
I'm an early bird (smiles).

Jackie
