The RNIB are selling some of these but they now say it is a discontinued line. Guess the speech support on them is not as it might have been. I like them but I am not in to editing etc, more is the pity. I like them for recording lectures and even recording from the Internet as I am not good at knowing how to do direct recording when on the Internet. Very handy little recorders though I have to say.

I have a DS40. The DS55 is one of the newer models with the improved voice navigation and better quality recording isn't it? I got quite a good deal on this and like the results I am getting with recording but I didn't realise that actually the better models, like the DS55, 65 and 75 aren't really that expensive in comparison.won't let At 21:43 30/03/2009, you wrote:Hello Dean,Which model do you have? I have the Olympus DS-55 and I have deleted files recorded on the unit through the USB connection to the PC with no problems. Idon't use the DSS software and the recorder works just fine. If youaccidentally deleted the voice files they're easily found on the CD so it's just a question of selecting the right language and copying them back to therecorder.
