Have you tried connecting it with different cables? It should be recognized
even when it's turned off, but have you tried connecting it and then turning
the DS50 on?

Can anyone help with a problem please. My Ds50 isn't recognised when
plugged
into either of my two PCs. Nor my wife's laptop. It doesn't give the usual

ding, dong and doesn't show up as a drive in my computer. Could it be
something
to do with the USB connections. I am not using a hub.

Cheers

Ron
