Colin, thanks very much for your helpful message on this subject, which apart
from my very brief comment to follow should draw things to a close.

Some years ago I used to clean the dog run for a blind couple I knew. I
stopped after several used syringes were found. Heroin adicts were sleeping
in a nearby flat passage, and when the local authority were called in over a
hundred of the filthy things were found. What infection I might have caught,
if I had been injured by one of these I dread to think. At least, curtasy of
Colin's post, we have a link to a site with info on this sort of unfortunate
accident.

| Greetings,
|
| As a result of James Odell's message, I went to:

| Hoax HIV needle e-mail
|
| (27 September 2005)
|
| Police in Stoke-on-Trent are receiving numerous calls about a chain e-mail
| which has been circulated relating to a cinema in Stoke-on-Trent.
|
| The e-mail, which police believe may be malicious, has been spread across
| the area by genuinely concerned members of the public.
|
| The e-mail states that police have issued a warning after a visitor to a
| cinema was injured by a needle. The e-mail then urges people to pass on the
| message
| to colleagues and agencies.
|
| A Stoke-on-Trent Police spokesman said "We have received no such reports,
| and we believe that this e-mail has been written to cause fear and alarm to
| members
| of the public. I urge members of the public not to send this e-mail on to
| others and to simply delete it. We have made contact with the organisations
| mentioned in the e-mail and none are aware of any such incident."
|
| Helpful advice on how to deal with needles or 'sharps finds'can be found at
