Hi Andy.

Yes, it's very frustrating when something like this comes up on the list and cannot be resolved. I'm sure it's something simple though. Strangely enough Andy, the symptoms you are having are identical to those I experienced when I checked the box titled Read all Messages in Plain Text. Have you un-checked this and re-booted? Need to go to bed now so hopefully, my first message tomorrow will be from you saying that it's sorted. Good luck.

Andy

Hi all -

Unlike with Andy Logue, I still have this problem. Simon, I don't believe I
have a virus, and yes shift delete has got rid of the unwanted messages, but
I am still stuck with JFW telling me to use my reading keys to read the
text, when in a message, and telling me that I am in "read only" mode. I'm
sure it has to do with some setting or other, but haven't found the right
one yet! Simon, you suggested unchecking the tool bar under layout, why? It
didn't change anything, but I would have thought we wanted the tool bars
checked. You also suggested checking the preview pain, but again why? isn't
this just about not having to open the message, that it will appear
automatically in the preview pain, and doesn't this make us more vulnerable
to virus attacks? I ask all these things, because fiddling around with
checking and unchecking settings, so far hasn't solved my problem. I can't
believe amongst all
the clued up people on this list, that we can't get to the bottom of this
one, it feels like it should be something quite strait forward, so are we
all beaten!?

| Hi Simon.
|
| As it turned out, I had checked a box within my OE/Read options which said
| Read all messages in Plain Text. I un-checked this and thankfully, it
| resolved my problem. Thank goodness. Couldn't handle yet another new
| problem.
|
| Best wishes.
