There are solutions about but it depends a little on what kind of phone it is.
Is it a Nokia smart phone or something different?

A friend is wondering if a mobile phone could be used to take
pictures which could then be put through an OCR engine with minimum fuss.
This friend isn't very technically-minded and would prefer something
with max usability for a blind person.
