Yeah, true, the independence thing, I could have got any laptop, but at the time, Toshiba was what I chose, and I'm happy with it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Nutt" <steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Chris,

Independence? I couldn't work out how Toshes gave you more independence
than any other notebook <Smile>.

All the best

Steve

Yeah, I think it is. I think it's known for Toshiba laptops to have a
shorter battery life, but that wasn't the reason why I chose Toshiba. It was

purely reliability, acceptance with screen readers, and, most importantly
for me at least, independence.

Hi Chris,

Must be your machine. I have a Fujitsu-Siemens notebook, and I get about
five hours' battery life. It only weighs 1.3KG, so it is very small
indeed.

All the best

Steve

Brenda, I have a Toshiba "notebook", and, indeed, it's lighter than a
laptop, but it is still bulkier if you want to use it out and about (I now
own a BrailleNote mPower, so will use that for my travelling needs). Not
sure about the screen as I'm a totally blind person, but I believe it
would
be smaller than a laptop. In terms of battery life, though, it's not good.
You only tend to get about just over an hour before it discharges fully.
However, this may just be my particular machine, I don't know. Also, my
battery's refusing to charge now, a year after I bought it, so just
something to be aware of. Hope this helps, and happy shopping!

Hi there,
I am considering purchasing a laptop but have been told by a friend that
there are now smaller than laptop computers known as notebook pcs. They
have a much smaller screen and battery life is better than the laptops I
have been told.
Does anyone have 1 of these and if so
how do you find it? Any information or contact details where they can be
purchased would really be appreciated.
Also I would be grateful if anyone could give me contact details for
the association of blind and partially sighted teachers and students
thanks in anticipation
Brenda
