Carol,
No that wasn't it, but I have resolved the problem now. While I still
can't find the default tone files and the ones I added to them previously, I
have now found where I can drop new ones to enable them to be used for specific
contacts. In fact two places - either main Sounds folder on the phone memory
or the Sounds folder on the memory card.

Simples! (makes mearcat noise)

Graham,

Would you have had a card in your phone at the time you first had
it and used these tones from the card? I did this and later
found it difficult to locate them when I'd removed that card.
You can certainly use your own tones from a card if you want to
do this and so can keep track of them!

Hope this might help!

CAROL

That's how you set a general ringing tone, but to set one to play
when a specidic individual calls, you go through the options for
that contact or group. I have that figured. What I can't seem
to do anymore is to use soumdclips of my own making for this
purpose or even to find where the phone is storing the tones that
it will allow me to use.

There are a nu,ber of directories on the phone memory and on the
memory card called Sound etc, but none seem to contain anything.

A bit of a long shot this. I have a Nokia N70 running Nuance
Talks. When I got into taking phones, this seemed the best
choice of symbian phone at the time. I have now had it for a few
years now as the Talks licence cannot be trnsfered to another
phone and there is little in the way of continuing support. I am
asking here as it struck me that there may be others still using
the N70 or similar models.

My problem is that I used to be able to attach any mp3 sound
clip to contacts and the phone seemed to be able to find these
wherever they were on the phone. Now, I seem to be restricted to
the default tones that came with the phone and cannot find where
these are located on the phone. I have browsed around the
directories and, while I can select them, I can't find where they
are located.

 Any ideas?

 Graham
