Hi Ibrahim,

Yes, PC Specialest are very good, I called them, and asked if they would supply
me with only a driver CD, not an OS, as I already had XP Pro on a DVD. They
ablyged, and when I got my machine from them all I had to do was slipstream the
drivers from the supplied disk into my XP DVD, boot the machine, and in half an
hour the machine was up and running. I like PC Specialist because of all the
choices they offer, and of course the great price. I can't go into PC World and
ask for a PC with no OS, or even XP, all they sell is Vista, and strangely,
they seem to get a kick, at least at my local store, out of selling Linux.

Hi Steve.

Fair point, it depends on what work he had done though to make it user
friendly for him. If it was extensive in nature, then PC world only
charging half for the job sounds reasonable. I was under the impression
that they just booted up the machine and got through the windows start
screens, hardly a job I would have expected him to pay for. With PC
Specialist, when I bought my latest machine from them, I asked them if they
would ever so kindly get windows up and running, all the drivers installed
(standard practice anyway), but with the added benefit of launching narrator
so I've a talking machine out of the box as it were. Of course, I've
formatted my machine since, but they didn't charge me a penny for starting
narrator, it only took them a couple of minutes anyhow and that was all I
needed as I could then install my access tech and make sure the machine had
booted up properly with no errors.

All the best, Ibrahim
