Hi Jackie. Inan earlier message today I mentioned about "text message preview" and suggested you may want to turn it off. To do this: 1. Go to settings from the main home screen 2. Now right flick until you find the option called text messages and double tap 3. In there you will find a button called preview double tap it to turn it off its on by default. This may well stop the automatic reading of messages when you are on a call. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jackie Cairns Sent: 03 March 2011 14:57 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: New iPhone questions, please? Hi Emma Sure is useful, many thanks. All these tips are most appreciated. Sounds a bit bonkers at the moment, but I love the iPhone, but not the phone part of it if you see what I mean. That's why I love my iTouch. But, I'll get there, somehow and, if I don't, then my iPhone could well end up being part of a wall or flower bed via a closed window! (big grins). Hi Jackie I don't believe anyone has answered your question on deleting messages. When you double tap on the main messages folder, there is a button near the top on the left called edit. Double tap on this and a button will have appeared after each message which allows you to delete it. Took me a while to figure that one out. Re. the speaker phone and trouble answering quickly enough, it might help to use the iPhone earphones when on a call. Half way down the lead from one of the ear pieces is a little panel of buttons, the middle one answers the call when the earphones are plugged in. With the earphones in, you can use the touch screen while on the phone. I've never been able to use the keypad while on a call without headphones. I also have a lot of trouble ending calls without having the earphones in. Hope this helps Regards Emma Tracey Content Producer http://www.bbc.co.uk/ouch Tel: +44 (0)208 7525469 Email: emma.tracey@xxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jackie Cairns Sent: 02 March 2011 14:20 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] New iPhone questions, please? Well, all the contacts are in now, but I have a few questions please? 1. How do I remove an unwanted contact? 2. What does one do to delete read or unwanted messages to be discarded? 3. I'm still having finger gesture problems, so don't always manage to answer the phone until Voicemail kicks in. As I'm on O2, what is the number to turn Voicemail off. I know it is 901 to dial it. Getting there, but finding it a bit frustrating at times. For example, I don't like the way a text message alert will sound when you are talking to someone on the phone, and VoiceOver reads out the text message you have just received. Is there a way of stopping it? Thanks for your help as ever.
