Hi Roger,
The only type of computer port I have ever comes across that is 9 pin would be
a serial port and it is only HP that I am aware of that still put these on some
of their PCs.
There are 3 types of connections that monitors can use that I am aware of:
VGA - This is the 15 pin connector you mention.
DVI - This has a 2 sections to it, one with 24 pins and another with 4 pins and
then 1 or 2 longer pins depending on the variant of DVI.
HDMI - This uses the standard HDMI connector found on TVs, PVRs, games consoles
etc.
I have looked the model of PC you mention up online and the images seem to show
an HDMI port below the VGA port if the PC is stood vertically.
I hope the above helps.
Kind regards,
Stewart.

Subject: [access-uk] New Monitor
I apologise for the cross posting but I'm trying to reach as many as possible.
I have just taken delivery of a new 24 inch Samsung monitor. As George said it
is a 9 pin connection rather than the 15 pin on it's predecessor . This is not
a problem but I noticed the Dell Vostro 3268 desktop I have seems to have a
socket that appears to be the right size right below the 15 pin port on the
back of the tower. I haven't tried to plug anything into it in case I'm not
correct and end up frying something. Does anyone know if this machine has dual
connection ports for 9 and 15 pin cables please.
Many thanks Roger
