Is that the new one? I had no problem getting an Optical to analogue converter
at Maplin for the third gen Apple TV as it has an Optical port.

I connected my apple tv hdmi output to my Denon system phono inputs via a DAC
cable.

Could you not Bluetooth it to your hifi? ...if not, another excuse for new
tech! I never understood the lack of the app store on the Apple TV units, as
I usually end up #Airplaying my iPad through it.

I understand there is an App Store on it so you can run compatible Apple TV
applications. I think, from what has been written, that the interface on the
new model is quite different from the existing one. The disappointment for
me is not having an optical outlet so I can convert this to analogue as I do
with the existing model. This enables me to currently run it through my hifi
system, but I don't see a way of being able to do that with the new release.
Still, I'll check that out the next time I visit the Belfast Apple Store and
get some hands-on.

They probably want to get rid of stocks too, because my guess is that they
will phase it out altogether. That is only my view though, I haven’t read or
heard to that effect.
