Ok Ibrahim, I might have to go back and have another look at the x120 then.

Thanks,

Tim.

  Hi Tim.

Three hours? Yikes, I'm sure the X120 could do better than that, I was under
the impression that 5 to 6 hours was nearer the mark. Atom chips are extremely
power conservative so that would account for the 9 plus hours of modern
netbooks, but when you want to do anything serious, you can forget about it.
I've had trouble doing some of the most basic tasks like watching DVD's on
netbooks, and if you cant do things like that, you may as well buy a netbook
notebook hybrid which is what the X120 is and no, I've never seen Dell
netbooks, I've never liked dell machines since my last experience with one of
their desktops several years ago.

  All the best, Ibrahim.

    Ibrahim,

Thanks for the info, will read up on the x120 again. I think what
discounted it for me was if I'm correct the battery life was just under 3 hours.

The Dell seems to give around 5 hours according to reviews.

As a matter of interest, have you encountered the Dell netbooks? What are
the keyboards like?

    Cheers,

    Tim.

      Hi Tim.

Just to add to what I was saying earlier, the Samsung X120 from play at
the moment is sporting the 320GB hard drive, though of course there are
variations of that model as well.

      All the best, Ibrahim.

        Hi Amro,

I've been similarly searching for a new higher spec netbook, and think
I've finally decided on the Inspiron m101z from Dell.

It has a 11.6 inch screen, comes with 2gb of ram, and 250gb hd as
standard, but can be supplied with 4gb and a 320gb hard drive. I also
seriously considered the Asus 1215n, with 2gb of memory and 250gb hd. Both
machines ship with a full version of windows 7 rather than the scaled down win
7 starter edition.

Both pc's have good reviews, however the Asus does appear to exhibit
some flexing in the keyboard.

I just hope the keyboard on the Dell is comfortable from a VI
perspective, as I haven't seen it.

        Hth, and best regards,

        Tim.

Hello all, sorry if this topic has been discussed before but new
netbooks are becoming available every day... So, my question is please, do you
have a recommendation for a new netbook? I am looking for something powerful in
terms of processor speed and ram capacity. Hard drive size is not a big issue
for me.

          TIA,
          Amro
