Hi MartinI think you are right. my computer seems to think it's there, but when I go into my computer to find the external drive, it's not there so I may look for a new one. I believe there are ones that will automatically back up files as soon as you connect them so I may see what the sales are offering after Christmas.
All the best and a merry Christmas to you all. Martin----- Original Message ----- From: "martin wilsher" <m.wilsher@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Sounds like your drive is on the way out. Hmm. Time for a new one? -----Original Message-----From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Ofmartin houghton@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: 20 December 2008 11:41 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Needing help with Sangsung nc10 and transfuring files HelloI have a usb external hard drive which I have had for a few years. However, I turned it on the other day and it started making lots of squeaking noises.I don't know if it is faulty, but I will try again and see if I can get it to work properly. On the positive note, the nc 10 did come up with aballoon message recognising the fact that I had a usb cable connected to it.Many thanks Martin ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Scholes" <james@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Jackie Cairns" <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, December 20, 2008 11:31 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Needing help with Sangsung nc10 and transfuring filesHello, the NC10 will not show up as an external drive, as it is a Windows machine and Windows just doesn't work that way. I used my home network to transfer files, but a USB hard drive maybe a better option if you don't have a very fast network. I used an external USB hard drive and plugged it into the Netbook directly. I also have an external DVD/CD drive, and hooked that up for some things as well. Good luck. I wonder if someone could help me with a problem I am having. I received my nc10 netbook the other day and I am able to boot up and it works fine and I have narrator running. The problem I am having is when I connect the unit up to my computer using a usb cable my pc isn't recognising the netbook as my external drive so I can't start to move files such as Jaws and other programs to it. I had a audible tone to let me know that something was connected to my pc then I heard the tone again and I can't find it anywhere on my pc. I am using jaws 10 with windows XP home edition. Hope to hear from you soon. All the best Martin ______________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by the MessageLabs Email Security System.
