I thought uninstalling it also messed up Outlook Express as well? Haven't used XP for a few years so don't remember.

Hello,
You can remove Windows Messenger using a tool called Zap Messenger. Windows Messaging Service is a core component of Windows, not Windows Messenger.

If it's XP then are you sure it's not windows messenger that is loading up, not WLM. If so, you can't remove that as it's a core component of windows I think. You can stop it from running though by going to the tools menu and options in messenger and go to the general tab I think.
