I am very concerned about the problems with the Focus, actually I am using
the 40 and have had three units, the first one the on/off button stopped
working and also some of the Braille cells became indistinct, then my second
one the battery stopped charging and this one is great so far.
A friend bought the 14 on my recommendation she does not subscribe to this
list I hope she does not have a problem.
Are you all saying the Focus is a flimsy product and the Braille not good?
I think it is great I use it all the time but am kind of thinking of a
back-up product but they are all so expensive.
Which do people think is the best Braille display?
Mandy.

All very subjective stuff Steve, personally not that it means anything at
all, I like the Braille cells, and find them pleasant to read for long
periods of time, but, as I say, that's of absolutely no use to anyone
really!

Hi,
Can't agree with you there, I think the cells feel cheap, almost like dymo
tape, I don't like the Braille on it at all.
All the best
Steve

Hi Terry
The unit is recharging even as I write this message. I did think it a bit
strange that the percentage was showing 100 when I got the Focus on Friday.
It switched itself off when it reached 76%. I recharged it overnight and all
seemed fine. I put it on to charge last night and the figure shot almost
within seconds to 100%. Also it seemed to take longer than I expected for
the charging indicator to show itself. I am hoping that this time I will get
a full charge and that things will start working as they should. I like
using the Focus 14. However, as things stand, it is probably the most
unreliable piece of equipment I have ever come across and I would be loath
to recommend it to anyone who is looking for a Braille display.

Hi!October?
Never seen this one on the focus before but I have known of similar
calibration issues with other devices.
So what happens if you charge the focus up to maximum, so the
indicator says %100.
Then run it all the way down, then go through the cycle again.
If the problem is a calibration issue rather than a false indication
problem, that should sort it out.

Subject: [access-uk] More Focus Vlue Problems
Hi
Well, I have my replacement Focus and have a problem. The battery
usage indicator seems to be indicating a false percentage. For
example, the battery is exhausted but when I power on, the percentage
shown is 80%. This means that the battery will die without giving me a
low battery warning. Has anyone had this problem and is there anything
I can do about it? Could I be moving on to my fourth Focus 14 since
last
