Hi John,
There is a document on the Humanware website that you can download that
explains the procedure very clearly. But from memory you need to be in
application mode on your BI14. That is the switch at the back of the display.
Make sure it is to your left.
Then press dots 123456 and the space bar. You’ll now be in the first level
menu. Press a for about and press to enter. Next press u (dots 136) and enter.
You should be prompted to start update. Press y to confirm.
Your BI14 is now in update mode. You should be able to continue with the update
on your PC. If your unsure look for the “Update the Brailliant BI 14” on the
Humanware website. It’s below the other BI manuals.
Oh and when you’re updated, hold the power button for what seems like an age to
get it out of update mode. I hope that helps.
All the best, Paul

Hi there
I just received my bi 14 this morning and this afternoon I have connected it to
my pc and iphone.
I have the very good tutorial from mystick access and I would say download this
tutorial and follow it it’s great.
It took ages for me to connect with jaws and nvda but it now works
To sync notes you must set up your gmail account from the brailiant sync app on
your iphone. If you have not got it download it from the app store.
I have tried to download the software so I can install the latest firmware but
it says my bi is not connected so I am stuck with this one.
Later on I will try and see how to do this if anyone has any ideas that will be
real helpful.
I must read up how to use it when connected to my pc though.
So, after tea time it’s connecting to my pixel 3a and then looking at google
docks. But how do you updrade the software.

Hi All.
I really like the Brailliantbut still can’t work out the notes function since
Jackie says her notes appear in emails, when I have spoken to someone from
Humanware they say this doesn’t happen so how can that be?
Obviously Jackie is not lying or misrepresenting anything: so what exactly is
the function of syncing notes: mine seem also to appear in grade one Braille I
am confused: please tell me again what exactly what should happen?
I am sorry to return to this topic again.
Mandy.

If you put a note in your Gmail folder on the Brailliant, It will appear in the
Gmail folder in your notes app. I haven't discovered away yet of viewing Gmail
notes on my PC.
If you want to find out probably all there is to know about the Brailliant
BI14, I recommend the tutorials from the Mystic Access website. They are
produced in conjunction with Humanware and are free. The website is
www.mysticaccess.com <http://www.mysticaccess.com> and you'll find the
tutorials in the Free Downloads section under Humanware Products.
I would certainly recommend the BI14 as a device which works very well as both
an input and output device.

Hi Ian,
Many thanks for that unfortunately, the focus ones are too much just for a
back up and as I have asked for this as a Christmas present from my family
it's a bit tricky.
Now Does anyone else know the answer to my notes synk question about
accessing the notes in Gmail on the PC once they have been synked using the
IOS app? Also someone said you need drivers for JFW but then someone else at
humanware said it's just selecting the bi14 from JFW list of braille displays.
Please may someone confirm whether I need the drivers or not. Also can I type
in UEB by default as this is my prefered Braille code and are the menus shown
in UEB too.
Many thanks
Chantal
PS
As I have Gmail turned on in the notes app does this mean that each time a
note would synk to the notes app from BI 14 it would show up in Gmail anyway
I did have a go at testing this on the IOS notes app with my Apex and it did
work but as I haven't got a BI 14 I can't check it would work in the default
notes app on there.
