Hi Andy, There is no wires connected to the phone at all, it is all done by Bluetooth so there isn't anything connected to the phone, you can answer the phone with this unit also there are other features but not to sure how this work, using this unit doesn't stop you from even sending text messages either. Andy if you like my mobile number is below or call the home phone if I can help in another way.

Andrew - can you explain the set-up please? Do you say have the phone in
your pocket with something connected to the headphone socket, and the loop
round your neck? I'm trying to get an understanding of where any wires might
be as I want to be as cordless as possible!

- Andy
