Hi, No, because as I said, it's a suite of talking apps. it is not a screen reader. Also the question is, can other non- code factory apps can be used with these phones? When MA started for Android, as well as the suite of apps MA could also be used as a screenreader. Whether apps were accessible or not was partly up to the app developpers, but also android as a platform was still relatively new and not much thought was given to it's accessibilitty. Never the less, there still were a significant number of apps that were accessible. So the main point and a question here is: can MA be used outside of the MA suite of apps? -----Original Message----- From: John Gurd Sent: Friday, October 18, 2013 4:00 PM To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Mobile accessibility now available on windows 8 phones This appears to suggest Microsoft have no intention of making their mobile smart phone system genuinely accessible if that is all they are providing. It's a sop to blind people and a fig leaf to cover Microsoft phone's lack of accessibility. No matter what you think of Apple at least they have integrated accessibility into every aspect of the iPhone so that the whole thing is useable by us. With Microsoft's solution none of the phone's systems are accessible and a separate suite of apps are simply replicating some of the functions of the phone in a very limited way. I really think blind people should be boycotting Windows phones until Microsoft take accessibility seriously. I personally wouldn't give it the time of day but I'm not that impressed with Windows phone yet anyway.
