Pete

I hadn't tried this, but agree with your observation.
I must admit that I found it useful, as I found places which I didn't know
existed!

Subject: [access-uk] Microsoft Soundscape app search facility

hi all,

having played with the soundscape app it is extremely good, but there was one
thing that seemed rather odd to me and i wondered if anyone else had come
across this and do they think it is ment to work this way or is it a bug.
if you go into the section to add a beacon and then instead of selecting one of
the locations it offers you do a search instead.
as you type in letters it will announce how many it has found, but if you look
at the results they don't all begin with what you have entered instead it
brings everything up that have those characters anywhere in the words at the
beginning, end, or anywhere inbetween.
this doesn't matter if you know the exact name and spelling of what you are
looking for but if your unsure  of what the name or spelling is you would get
an awful lot of results.
so for example when i tried it out i thought i would try and find the name of a
road not far from me but couldn't remember what it was called other than it
began with the letters S W.
so i presumed that if i entered those 2 letters it would show me anything that
began sw.
but it doesn't.
when i typed in the letter S it spoke and said it had found more than 800
results and i thought there can't be that many roads and shops and businesses
around me begining with the letter S so i looked down the list.
it had everything that began with the letter S but not with them listed first
they are listed in distance order with inbetween these were roads and streets
like panier gardens because it ended with the letter S  and fairfield cressent
because it has the letter S in the middle of the second word.
so i then added the second letter W and the first result it showed me was
brookswood school because it has the SW in the middle of the first word.
if this is the way it is ment to work  it will be fine if you know the exact
name or live somewhere like a small village otherwise you will need to do a lot
of scrolling down the results to find the thing you are looking for.

pete.
