Hello all,

Like others I had a quick play with it last night and was very impressed with the amount of information about points of interest it picked out just standing in my hall!

You really do need a pair of bone conduction headphones to take advantage of this software though. I found the experience of getting the point of interest/street name GPS information presented across the stereo soundstage very impressive.

As a totally blind person your "world" is usually perceived as the radius of your cane, extended by the sounds/smells of shops or buildings in the near proximity.  This software reminds me of when as a  sighted person I  could look along the street and see shops buildings around me on both sides of the street and even part way down side streets.

I  think Microsoft may well have another Seeing AI on their hands with this software!

What would be really good would be a  head mounted GPS receiver to enable the soundscape to change as you moved your head.

That's Great David.  I only put it on in the house and it mentioned my local
as well.  I also only tried it with the in ear phones so I will have to
order some bone conducting ones.

Jo and all

Having had a play with it this evening, I am staggered at its functionality
in conjunction with Navigon.

My first delight was that my "local" was one of the initial points to be
spotted at 378 yards away!

Having reluctantly walked by the door, I went into the High Street, and
entered a GPS point for the Post Office, which is difficult to find during
out of hours owing to a lack of physical indicators, and especially
difficult in the prevailing high winds.
Having sset it with a beacon, I walked down the opposite side of the street,
crossed, and walked back.
When the Post Office was indicated, I made dog sit, and there we were
immediately outside the door.
Very impressive!

Needless to say, the hostelry was visited en route chez mois!

A Similarly accurate notification of my front gate which is almost half way
along a 40 yard frontage without obvious audible cues in severe windy
conditions.

I look forward to playing with it a lot more, and hearing of bone-conducting
headphones.  I was using the supplied iPhone 7 in-ear phones for this brief
trial.

BTW: we have hardly any snow down here on the Kent coast.

Got it.  I have been waiting for the app as I know the person who is helping
microsoft and guide dogs test it so I heard about it ages ago.  It does
sound really weird when the voices are coming from either side of you or
behind you.  Now I need to know which bone conducting headphones to buy.  Is
it worth paying top price for them when they aren't used for music?

I've got it on iOS David but not sure if it's available for Android, I
haven't looked to be fair.

If you haven't tried this out, give it a go, looks really interesting.
