hi all, i've heard similar stories about dell and it's components. a friend of mine was told by dell that if they installed any hardware that wasn't dell manufactured, or dell approved, then it could invalidate their warrantee. i also think on the whole dell's pc's are overpriced, although this can be said of quite a lot of the "off the shelf" pc's you can buy. i'd much rather build my own. may cost a bit more, but at least i know what's going in it! smile.
