Andy, simply on the subject of reading the properties in My Computer. If you can focus My Computer on the desktop you could simply press alt-enter to bring the properties dialogue up. The resulting dialogue, at least on my machine, brings up the general tab under which is displayed the name of the operating system and some other useful info. With window-Eyes, press insert and the plus key on the keypad. W-E should say "pointer routed to tab control". Again, with the insert key, but this time with num keypad 6, just to the right of the middle key which usually has a dot on it, press insert and 6 and W-E will start going through the various elements on the tab. the first one indicating 'System' and each press of the insert and 6 key will take you down a line of this dialogue, revealing the info about the operating system you have, and eventually the basic resources of your machine. You can simply press escape to get out of system properties. HTH. The version from the Command Prompt CANNOT be used to indicate the actual version in use. It is merely an indication of the BASIC core product - in other words Windows XP. Both Windows XP Professional and XP Home here say they are Version 5.1.2600. I'm not sure why you are not getting the Properties dialog read for you when selected via My Computer, but if you want to give me a call, we can take another look. The General Tab of Properties should tell you: 1) System: Operating system, version and any Service Pack Level. 2) Registered to: Your name, Company (if any) and Product key. 3) Manufactured and supported by: This will indicate if it is a Microsoft supplied version of Windows or an OEM version. It may also tell you the processor used, Speed, and amount of memory (RAM) George. ----- Original Message ----- 20.02 From: "Steve Nutt" <steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, March 12, 2007 11:10 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Media Center again > Hi Andy, > > When in System Properties, get on the general tab, then press > Control-Shift-W.
