come on people as a totally blind person i would not be taking my pet dog now
would i they were aware it was a guide dog of course. it does seem though for
all the work done over the years we are no futher forward than we were to when
i was at the rnc in 1973 and having the same problem in shrewsbury with my
first dog queenie

Many blind people have pet dogs, so it's important to ne clear.

I prefer to save waving the big stick until I have to and in your
place would ask to speak with the manager. If he wasn't immediately
amenable I would remind him of his obligations under disability law
and if he remained unhelpful and the hotel was part of a chain, I'd
ask for contact details for the parent group. At this point I'd
probably contact Guide Dogs for additional support and advice too.
Most times when I have been initially declined access to a café or
restaurant, asking to see the manager has usually overcome the
problem. So it's worth trying this first before going in with all guns
blazing--smile!
