To be fair to MacVisionaries they have recently suffered from pretty
weird subscribers posting extremely abusive emails. I have never seen
such a level of obscene abuse as has appeared in some of these emails.
They have also suffered people posting mails with odd speech patterns in
mail subject lines, these speech patterns has the sole designed and
purpose of crashing Voiceover on Macs. People who do this sort of thing
probably think they are being clever but doing this to inexperienced mac
users who are using the list to overcome their visual impairment do not
need idiots like this making their life more difficult.
This is probably the same individual who has been joining using
different aliases. These incidents has greatly upset
many members of the list and the moderators needed to act to prevent
the reoccurrence of these problems. . I guess that any open list has
dangers that anti social people may join to disrupt lists with a
perverted sense of enjoyment at seeing others discomforted.
Generally though MacVisionaries is a friendly and respectful list.
Problems like this could unfortunately happen even on this list. Anyway
these repeated issues has made Macvisionaries very cautious of who they
allow into the list so you probably do need to say something about
yourselves to make the Moderator feel confident that they can trust the
subscription.
I am still a list member so if anybody wants me to forward details to
the List Moderator then email me details on daj.griffith@xxxxxxxxx and I
will forward this to the list moderators.

Hi,
Mac4theblind not only covers Macs, but as long as it is apple, it is on topic.

No idea. I got the same attitude when I attempted to join. So joined Mac For
THe Blind which is a more open list, still Mac related though. Can't be doing
with owners being choosy about who joins and doesn't. But each to their own and
their list at the end of the day. Rant over sorry.

I applied to join the Mac Visionaries mailing list as I am a new Mac user. I
got a reply saying the moderator had declined my request. Anyone know why? I
only put my email address in the form, maybe I should have put more
information? Any ideas welcome. Annabell.
