  I would still go for Office the assistive technology products tend to work 
best with the office suites.  I am not sure whether it is still the case but 
earlier incarnations of Works used to have a static system cursor and that used 
to play havoc with both Zoomtext and JAWS a few years ago.  You are better off 
with Office and so long as you don't need or want Outlook or Access you can buy 
pretty cheaply.  I brought a 3 user Office 2007 for around £80 the other year 
that has Word, Excel, Powerpoint and probably One Note.
