Sound like you have a Styles problem.

Check the Format for a suspect paragraph and you will likely find that
where there is "white space" between paragraphs, it is because the
Paragraph Space Before or Space After has been set incorrectly.

Subject: [access-uk] MS Word 2003

Hello,

I am using MS Word 2003 and find that sometimes when formatting, for
example references, when printed there is a larger gap between
sections of text in some places. This is even though I have set the
font to a standard size for all text (highlight all and alter) and
when I have selected all and set paragraph format to 1 line.

I am using a hanging indent, not sure if that makes a big
difference...

But some of the sections of text I had to remove the clear line in
between to look visually right when printed.

JAWS does not differentiate this, so some of the sections JAWS says
"blank" in between and for the other sections, it does not indicate
the "blank" in between.

So if you are using a screen reader, it is something like this...

Freud, S. (1954). Interpretation of dreams. Penguin Books.

Bandura, A. (1987). Social Learning Theory. The Journal of Behavioural
Psychology, 2(5), 234-238.

Eysenck, M. (1995). Three factors of personality. The Journal of
Personality and Individual Differences, 7(12), 1146-1170.

As your screen reader will have read out, there is a line break
between Bandura and Eysenck, but not between the first two, Freud and
Bandura. Yet to a person visually it would look alright. (I know this
example doesn't, but I am using this as an example).

Hope this all makes sense.

Regards,

Mike
