Yes indeed. I am suggesting modifying the Style in Word. If it is simply
text, it will likely be Word's "Normal" Style which is used.
If you modify that, it can be saved as part of the Normal Template.
(Confusing using the same name, I know) Once done, you won't have to remember
to do it again.
If needs be, and you have Skype where I can see your screen, perhaps we can
arrange to show you how to do it.

Roger, I tried your method but it didn't show in a new document after making
the changes you gave.
George, is your suggestion different to what Roger described?
Janet, I already tried the Control 1 etc method but unfortunately that
doesn't work either.
Joe, I used the method I described in my origional message on a 13 page
document I created a few months ago and after putting in the single line format
the document reduced to 9 pages, quite a saving on paper when printing!

Hi,
Using Windows 7, Office 2010 and JAWS 15
I've been told by a sighted person that when creating a new document in
Word 2010 there is a larger gap between lines of text, almost to the point of
being the equivalent of double line spacing. Using the checking format
keystrokes in JAWS (Ins+F) it tells me that line spacing is "1 Line" and not
"single" as was in Word 2003 which left a narrower gap between lines of text.
According to the Word Help facility you can set line spacing to single by
using the following keystrokes:
Alt followed by H,G and then scroll down the list to Word 2003 and press
Enter. This then gives me "Single Line Spacing"
This is a bit long winded if I have to do this every time I want to create
a new document as I can't find a way of keeping this setting as my default.
Is there a way of changing the "1 Line" in Word 2010 to a smaller gap
between text, for example .5 or.75 and then set it as the default?
Hope this all makes sense to anyone out there.
