Well no that is the very point of the Kindle for Pc, by default all books are tts enabled so what you cannot read on your Kindle because tts is not enabled, you can read on the Kindle for PC. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Debby McCallan" <debramccallan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

It would only be useful if I particularly wanted a book which is not TTS enabled as I have a Kindle device which suits me fine. The fact that a book is not TTS enabled is enough to put me off bying it anyway.
Call me stroppy if you like, hahaha.

Why not any better off, I have just sent a mail to the list explaining how to use Kindle for PC in conjunction with a screen reader so read it first before deciding. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Debby McCallan" <debramccallan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

OK. Thanks.
Maybe won't bother then if I'm not going to be any better off.

Not the Kindle, the in-built tts voice male and female read the books.

I was under the impression that a screen reader would "read" any book too (including non enabled TTS), just haven't got round to downloading anything yet.
Would be interested to hear replies.

I downloaded the accessible kindle and I still couldn't see how to
start reading books or where to get proper help. Is this accessible
kindle program really working properly and doing all it say it does?
Also, what about books if the TTS is disabled?
Thanks
Ari

The Kindle for PC is the accessable kindle for pc. Can you check and see if you have the correct one, it is about 250MB and the standard one is 70MB. If you do not have the correct one, then put in to Google Search accessable kindle for pc and it will come up and you download it from Amazon. You should be aware that your screen reader will read the menus but you just
have the male and female voices to actually read the book.

Hi. I've downloaded and installed the PC version of the Kindle app. So far I'm not impressed with it as it's not accessible. Is this the same for all
screenreaders?
