Hi Ed.

Would you believe it - that book was, in fact, in archived items so I was able
to download it and had I done that originally could have saved myself lots of
time smile!

Thanks for your help on this: and your email to the other person who asked for
help.

Mandy.

Hi Mandy,

I'm not sure what the problem is as you don't need to enter the details of your
wireless network separately into the Kindle for PC software, assuming you've
entered them into your laptop. From what you say, I'm assuming that your
laptop is already connected to the wireless network.

I take it you've registered the Kindle for PC software to the account from
which you bought the book? If not, go to tools, options, and down arrow to
registration. I assume you may have done this if your download is pending.

Does your new item appear in your archived items? If so, you could try pressing
enter on it from there, which should trigger a download.

Ed

Thanks for all your help on this - I didn't find that bit of instruction using
control I and the other thing is: I bought a really cheap book to make sure I
can download, it is now in my pending list and I don't know how to turn
wireless on as it doesn't automatically seem to be on even though I am using my
laptop wirelessly.
II keep looking I hate being beaten and yet I see nowhere that shows a settings
screen so that I can look for the network name and enter the password.
Most frustrating.
Other than that: great!

Mandy.

Hi Mandy,

Press control shift c to toggle between page reading and continuous reading
modes. It'll announce which one you're in. I think you have to be in the book
when you do this.

I have been able to go to archive and download a book I previously purchased
but had not read - however: I seem to have to right arrow and control r at the
end of each page and although it doesn't take a second, and if it is free
that's just one of the drawbacks: is there something I can do to read
continuously?

Mandy.

Hi Mandy,

Did you install the Kindle for PC with Accessibility Plugin? This is the
version you need if you are to use it successfully.

If you did, then your screen reader should handle the navigation of the
application, while the text to speech built into the software will take over
when you’re reading a book. Once you’ve pressed enter or control o to open a
book, you can press control I for instructions. However, control r will start
reading from the top of the page, and if you return to a book, pressing space
will resume reading.

If you only installed the normal Kindle for PC, you’ll need to install the
version with the accessibility plugin. Go to
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=kin_pcacc_surl&docId=1000632481

I’m not sure I understand your Wi-Fi question, but you don’t need to get the
software to connect specifically to your Wi-Fi network – it will just use your
existing connection. You should probably check the ‘deliver to’ option when
you order a book from Amazon, to make sure it’s set to Kindle for PC.

Hope that helps.

Ed

Hi All.

Seeing someone request help for this reminded me that, although I sold my
Kindle because I can access everything on iBook's, there would be nothing lost
by downloading Kindle for PC which I have done but how do I get speech?

Also I am connected to wi-fi – do I have to connect the Kindle for PC
separately?

Mandy.
