Thanks Jackie then that means I do not have to worry about wi-fi key but strange that. At my brother's, yes we had wi-fi turned on and were surprised we did not need to put in the key. However, where I live there are many wi-fis in the vacinity but guess that will be OK. Will find out anyway when going for another book. My apology to all re the incomplete book, it may be as per my last e-mail to the list, where I just got mixed up when trying to go back about 15% and unfortunately I just did not succeed with this. It then appeared to get 'stuck' at 86% but later moved on from there. Thanks as ever Jackie for all your help. I like your suggestions too to Amazon. Did you invest in a cover for your KK? I find all the sockets and rocker switch at the bottom plus USB port/plug difficult to feel and there is nothing wrong with my sense of touch. They all appear so small so I cannot imagine someone with large hands or reduced touch say due to Diabetes managing one. The Kindle for PC is good too though but it is good to have the KK for when the PC is not on or just a change away from the PC or when travelling. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns" <jackie.cairnsplace@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Subject: [access-uk] Kindle Keyboard matters

Hi Alfred

I was browsing the Kindle Store yesterday and bought a book that is neither
on Audible or talking book. I also decided, while I was at it, to contact
Amazon. I raised two points with them, the obvious one that their Kindle
devices are not accessible and that, in the case of the Kindle Keyboard, it
is a half-hearted attempt at accessibility. The other point I raised was
actually a suggestion. I asked whether it would be possible for them to
introduce a plan like Audible has, where you can purchase 12 or 24 credits,
then download Kindle books to the value of those credits. I could spend a
lot on books, and it made me wonder whether they could consider adopting the
same or a similar pay plan.

I bought another book, and saw a message that tells you to have WiFi
switched on in order to receive your purchases through Whispernet, so it
does appear that you need WiFi on, but not your key put in, as it uses 3G.
In this respect, therefore, I haven't put my WiFi key in, but have left it
turned on.

I am very disappointed there is an issue of incomplete books being
downloaded, but if it ever happens to me, I will certainly make Amazon aware
of it, and ask for a refund if they can't help.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

Subject: [access-uk] Very Disappointed with My Kindle Keyboard

Hi KK users
When I got my Kindle last Sunday, my sister-in-law started saying that she
was watching some consumer programme on TV recently and that people were
complaining that they were getting Kindle eBooks and then when they got near the end the final part was not there. I laughed it off but she said she was serious and this programme had been on BBC. Tonight I had my disappointment when my book came to an end at 86% Anyone else had this experience? I paid
£9 for a book and I don't know how it ends!!!
